The Path I Chose

Alan Lee,

I need you to understand that I’m under an intense amount of pressure from every angle. It’s overwhelming, and I feel like I’m on the edge of breaking down. From the beginning, I was looking for a relationship that would bring peace, care, and support through life’s ups and downs. I chose you, even over my marriage, because I believed you were someone who could bring comfort and balance after everything I’ve endured.

But now, I feel as if I’m struggling to breathe. There are so many rules about what I can and cannot do, and the weight of it all is starting to crush me. Jumping from one relationship into another, I had hoped for a fresh start, for life to feel brighter and lighter. Instead, my emotional well-being has only worsened. During my past marriage, even through difficult times, I never lost control or felt so close to breaking that I would end up hurting myself.

Now, I find myself more hurt and confused than ever. It’s hard to understand why things have turned out this way, and I feel lost about how to move forward.

Sometimes, I feel like I’d rather sacrifice the love I deserve just to ease the pressure of trying to balance everything. Finding a way to divide my time fairly with everyone in my life is a constant, heavy weight on my shoulders. I truly want to be there for you, but juggling this alongside my other responsibilities has been overwhelming. I just need you to understand the weight I’m carrying and the effort I put into making sure everyone feels valued and present in my life.

I understand that you have your own pressures and worries, and I know how painful it is for you to sacrifice time with your kids due to the limitations your ex-wife has set. It’s such a harsh situation, and I can see how difficult it must be for you. I also worry because it seems like she’s still holding on, trying to get back at you in some way. She feels like a constant nightmare for both of us.

No doubt, I can only give you a limited amount of my time, and I hope we can appreciate the moments we have instead of complaining about the time being too short. Right now, we’re the closest people to each other, the ones we can share with, hug, and have conversations with. So, shouldn’t we focus on making the most of our time together, rather than arguing over why things are the way they are?
